My Solo at Six Summit Gallery NYC Port Authority Location Public Exhibition Space

Come check out my new solo exhibition at Six Summit Gallery, with works on display in a public exhibition space located at The Port Authority in association with Six Summit Gallery. “The show is comprised of older works by the artist, combined with paintings that Bonanno created throughout the Pandemic, as well as fresh, new work from Spring and Summer 2022, the exhibition features 20+ artworks and could be viewed as a “retrospective” of sorts for the artist, with a history of paintings for art lovers and collectors to experience – while also understanding the deeper meaning of the artist’s body of work.” –says Miami Art Scene™.

The New England-based artists work is image and concept driven and imbedded in his personal philosophy. His art contains the essence of his life, feelings, thoughts and dreams, coupled around objects or topics that “get stuck in his head”, including traffic lights, grids, ceiling fans, graffiti and pop culture. Visit Six Summit Gallery to experience Bonanno’s current solo exhibition ‘Beauty & Chaos II’ at 625 8th Avenue, South Building Floors 1 & 2, New York, New York.

I like writing things in my journal that make me happy and also things that are stressful to me.

Either way, it’s always therapeutic. And I am trying to cut back on smoking.

Online exhibition ‘River of Dreams’ with Contemporary Art Curator June 14 – October 14, 2021

Happy to announce my participation in an online exhibition, ‘River of Dreams’ with Contemporary Art Curator June 14 – October 14, 2021.

”Our art is our dream. The dream is a symbolic journey towards the most private part of the human soul. The theme of dreams goes through the idea of a journey, reflection, discovery, knowledge and emotion. The dream is a gateway into the deepest space of the soul. Dreams are potent driving forces in life. Dreams are the source, followed by hard work for the dreams to come true, and that’s the magic and beauty of life.” -CAC.

February 6th thru March 14th
Opening February 6th, 1-4PM

VITO BONANNO, is a Westbrook artist whose work is collected internationally. He has been featured in Art Basel Miami and is in the permanent corporate collection of AMAZON. Vito brings a
mix of hyper-focused aesthetic blending street art, pop culture, hopes and dreams from his unfiltered world to the canvas by tapping into the daily emotional and social challenges of living with autism. Image and concept driven, his colorful hybrid dream-state aesthetic is where conceptual and abstract expressionism styles collide.

SAMANTHA SMITH, is a local artist who has been featured at SSG for over 6 years. She is a graduate of Lyme Academy of Fine Arts and Pratt Institute. Samantha’s work is a blend of figurative, surreal and nature, often fitted with dreamy elusive narrative. She headlined in SSG show “After the Machines” and most recently during New York Fashion Week.

I wanted to highlight one of my favorite pieces: ‘The Wiseman’

There’s something about The Wiseman that I always loved, it’s hanging in my home and it’s one of my favorite paintings. ‘Wiseman’, made with oil paint, india ink, and oil stick on canvas, 36″H x 24″W. “The New England-based artist taps into the daily emotional and social challenges of living with autism, placing his innermost feelings onto canvas. His work is image and concept driven and embedded in his personal philosophy. His art contains the essence of his life, feelings, thoughts and dreams, coupled around objects or topics that ‘get stuck in his head’, including traffic lights, grids, ceiling fans, graffiti and pop culture.”

“The characters, objects, and ideas that inhabit Vito Bonanno’s work act and interact in striking ways. Caught within the grids and map-like structures he imagines, they are often in a struggle between multiple worlds. He has found a way to tap in the intensity of focus and insight afforded him through autism to unleash a formidable creative power and vision.” -Elizabeth Peterson, Director of Akus Gallery at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU). I’m known for the characters that appear in my work

I have some longtime favorite characters that you’ll find in my work like Mr. Bunny and of course my old buddy Luis The Rat. I also have many meaningful characters that take on people I know, people I’ve met or encountered over the years.

I began a new series of work called ‘Life Interrupted’

I recently started a new series called Life Interrupted which began with the creation of a painting I titled, ‘Pizza Interrupted‘. The piece is 48″H x 36″W made with mixed medium including oil paint, india ink, and oil paint pen. It is the first in this series with more to come! Contact me for pricing and shipping information at Vito@VitoBonanno.com

Pizza Interrupted is like a documentary on canvas, about how a sudden abrupt event can change life as we know it. It outlines the flood of emotions and feelings of helplessness and fragmentation, while the use of vibrant colors can still bring a smile to our heart in the face of uncertainty and difficulty, reminding us of the power, resilience and always hopeful spirit of humanity.

In My Art Studio Working on a New Series ‘Dreams & Reminiscing’

I’m always in the studio working on my new series, ‘Dreams & Reminiscing‘, it’s been a while since I’ve worked on a new series of art, but I’m feeling inspired and painting everyday creating a whole new collection of work.
